Kara Kelso has been a member of the Miller Well Drilling family since February of this year, when she was referred by another employee for the job. Since she came on, she has made herself an invaluable member of the administrative team, taking and making customer calls, scheduling crews, and assisting with job planning.

Kara’s favorite thing about working at Miller Well Drilling is that her day is never the same- there is always something new going on, and she is always ready to join in! Her dedication to her job extends beyond office, like when she helped with the booth at this month’s Punkin Chunkin Festival or handing out candy to trick or treaters in Hayesville’s Trick or Treat around the Square.

Kara has been in the hills of Western North Carolina for the past ten years, with her two sisters (who are “much taller” than her) and mom, as well as her dogs, Goober and Gypsy. Goober was supposed to be “Little Man” but he would not answer to it. A friend started calling him Goober and, since the pooch seemed to respond, the name stuck. Gypsy came to Kara with a name when a different friend gave him to her.

When she is not watching Jonathan tap dance in her office while he waits for her to get off the phone, she fills her spare time with stacks of books.

Next time you call in the office and Kara answers the phone, be sure to ask about her puppies, and remember- she may be watching the boss do a softshoe routine, so forgive her if she lets out a little giggle.
